Obviously a resident has a lot more at stake, but I think the presence of more regular people would be a good thing overall. Next meeting is Jan 27.

I'd love to see more members of City Hall have to deal with biking/walking/taking public transit in general; I think their tune would change drastically. You can't make effective legislation for something you have no clue how it works in reality (and frankly, that applies, as an overarching rule, to the Bikeways Committee as well).

I was planning on attending this meeting, alas I was up to my usual shenanigans and did not wake up in time to make it to Miami Beach by the start time.

I hope I'll got for the next meeting, however, as although I'm no longer a citizen of Miami Beach, I grew up and still spend much of my time there.

One thing I thought of while at the Transit Summit later that day was that City and County Governments should stop funding the transportation of officials. They should all either spend their pay on transportation (like everyone else) or be given free use of the deplorable county transit system.

Often times I feel the disconnection between the steps necessary to make Miami a better place and the Official's unwillingness to live a lifestyle conducive of said better future creates havoc when it comes to decision-making. I had no doubt we'd have better public transportation, and more bike access if more Officials used these as modes of transportation.
